Ottawa contractor fined $90,000 for bulldozer accident
A 2018 incident on a Highway 417 worksite in Ottawa led to a worker suffering critical injuries after being struck by a bulldozer. Aecon Construction Ontario East Limited pled guilty to failing to ensure that a bulldozer operator was assisted by a signaller.

Fatal fall leads to $150K fine
A worker died after falling from the roof of a 13-storey building under construction in Hamilton. The Toronto contractor pled guilty to a charge of failing to ensure the worker was protected by a means of fall protection, and will pay a fine of $150,000.
Province to add 98 labour inspectors
The addition will bring the number of inspectors on the ground to more than 500—at a cost of $11.6 million. Recruitment begins early next month.
