Dream CEO Michael Cooper says the full rebate is a game-changer because while retailers can pass on the cost of a sales tax to customers, rental developers have to pay the tax themselves.

Of the more than 2,100 inspections carried out, just 6% of employers were found to be in violation of program rules. The government publishes a list of non-compliant employers online.

The company was found to have failed to ensure control switches on a concrete mixer were locked out.

The province is soon set to table legislation so future changes to the Greenbelt would have to be done through the legislature and not done by regulation. 

The funding increase sees the bond limit rise to $60 billion. The government expects the move will spur the construction of as many as 30,000 more rental apartments annually.
