The federal government has topped up the Municipal Asset Management Program with more than $1.9 million that will be used to fund more than 40 projects in small communities across Ontario.

The health hub project is the first of its kind in Ontario, and was built at a cost of about $60 million by EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare.

About half of the funding for the $300−million project will come from governments at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels.

The centre will use the money to fund construction of a 15,500-square foot expansion of its facility, and to upgrade its facilities.

A new plan from Metrolinx and the provincial government changes the proposed route for the eight-kilometre extension, brings the line above grade for its final kilometre, and cuts back the number of stations in an effort to save costs.
