A variety of projects in communities such as Pembroke, Georgian Bay and Markstay-Warren will share in $28 million in funding for road and bridge projects.

The rolling, six-month average of housing starts in the country rose to just below 200,000 units in June, while the number of starts for the month increased by 8 percent.

Although much of the money will be spent on upgrading the city’s rolling stock, several million dollars have also been allocated to construction of various facilities and roadworks.

The national labour force added 953,000 jobs in June—a strong sign the economy is emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic. Construction added 83,200 more workers.
