COVID-19 closures in construction

Here is the latest information on those events—and operations—that have been affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic to date.
Events
- March 25–27: Canadian Mechanical & Plumbing Exposition, Toronto, ON — postponed
- March 26: Ontario Road Builders Association Spring Operations Seminar, Toronto, ON — cancelled
- May 24–26: Canadian Apprenticeship Forum National Apprenticeship Conference, Calgary, AB – postponed
- May 27–29: Ontario Association of Architects Annual Conference, Toronto, ON – cancelled
- May 27–30: Skills Canada Annual National Competition, Vancouver, BC – cancelled
Operations
- The Infrastructure Health and Safety Association has cancelled all its courses and closed its facilities through April 3.
- The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board has closed its offices to the public. Online and telephone requests are still being processed. Claim-related appointments may be cancelled with no effect on benefits—and it is not required that an adjudicator or case manager be notified of the cancellation. The WSIB will not process any hard copy mail it receives after March 16.
- The Commission de la construction du Quebec has closed all nine customer-service counters in the province until further notice.
- The Ottawa Construction Association has cancelled all training courses through April 6. Its offices remain open for Commissioner of Oaths services.
- The Grand Valley Construction Association offices remain open, but with restricted visitor access. The association asks members to call ahead for assistance. GVCA has also launched a website that allows members to post any closures or access restrictions to their offices or jobsites.
- The Niagara Construction Association offices remain open, although the association has advised members that events may be cancelled or rescheduled.
- The Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario offices are closed. All employees have been sent home to work.
