OCA elects Danny Dillon as 2020 chair
The Ottawa Construction Association (OCA) elected Danny Dillon, president of DILFO Mechanical Contractors, as its 2020 chair at the association’s annual general meeting on March 11.
Dillon takes over the leadership of the association from departing chair Wayne Jennings of Doran Contractors.
Dillon has worked at DILFO for more than 30 years, having worked his way through the ranks of estimator, fabrication shop manager, project manager and vice-president.
Today, DILFO is one of Ottawa’s largest mechanical contractors. The company offers mechanical services for a wide range of construction projects: small tenant fit-ups, large and complicated design assist/build projects and most recently a large IPD project.
“As Chairman, my aim is to support OCA’s growing focus on programs for member education,” he says. “I also believe strongly in the value of Lean principles in construction. I want to promote education programs that will help members learn about Lean principles and apply them in their businesses.”
Dillon’s background is in mechanical engineering. He earned his MBA from Queens University in 2018. During his career, he has served on the boards of directors of several industry associations: the Mechanical Contractors Association of Ottawa, which he chaired in 2007; the Ontario Sheet Metal Contractors Association, which he chaired in 2009, and through which he participated in the negotiation of two provincial collective agreements; and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning National Association. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Ottawa Construction Association since 2013.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Dillon is married with three children. In his leisure time, he stays fit by running, cycling, cross country skiing and competing in triathlons.
