Chandos Construction to build Carleton Place hospital emergency department
Chandos has been tipped to lead construction of a new emergency department building at the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH), west of Ottawa.
The hospital announced the tender award on October 20. Construction is expected to begin this fall and will take approximately 18 months to complete.
“Our Ottawa office is proud to be working together with the team assembled by the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital on this important healthcare project,” said Chandos’ area manager, Peter Weiss. “This project will have a significant positive impact both to the community and to the local employment opportunities of over 200 construction experts, trades and suppliers throughout the life cycle of construction.”
Funding for the construction of the new emergency department is being provided by the Ministry of Health and the CPDMH Foundation through its capital funding campaign.
The new emergency department will be linked to the hospital and will address current space challenges and enhance infection control standards. It includes 11 treatment spaces – five more than the current facility. The new department will also improve patient flow for both walk-in patients, as well as patients arriving by ambulance.
