Niagara South Hospital RFP closes with two bidders
Infrastructure Ontario and Niagara Health have officially closed the request for proposals process for the South Niagara Hospital Project.
Two bidders submitted proposals by the October 12 deadline: EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare, which includes design support from Parkin Architects Limited, and Niagara Care Partners, which is led by a joint venture of Amico Concessions Inc, Sacyr Concesiones, S.l., and SNC-Lavalin Capital Inc., with design support from IBI Group Architects.
The team from Plenary PCL Niagara Health did not submit a proposal by the deadline.
The new South Niagara Hospital will be an integral part of Niagara Health’s connected healthcare system that centralizes services from existing facilities, making it easier for residents to access the care they need at one location, provide an overall better experience, and enable communities to be healthier.
The facility itself will include: an emergency department, ambulatory services as well as post-acute complex continuing care inpatient services, and centres of excellence specializing in stroke, complex care, geriatric/psychogeriatrics and wellness in aging.
The building will also be designed and built to meet LEED silver standards. In addition, the project is working toward being the first WELL-certified healthcare facility in Canada.
IO’s May 2022 P3 Market Update document estimates the value of the South Niagara Hospital Project at more than $1 billion. The agency expects to announce a successful proponent for the work early next year.
