Four prequalified for Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital build
Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Quinte Health have prequalified four companies to deliver the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital site redevelopment project.
The companies were prequalified based on criteria identified in a request for qualifications process that began in March 2023. Selection criteria included the required construction experience applicable to this project, as well as the financial capacity to deliver a project of this size and complexity.
The prequalified companies are: Ledcor Construction Limited, Sullivan & Son Limited, Pomerleau Inc., and Quinte Care Partners.
IO and Quinte Health expect to issue a formal request for proposals to the firms later this year. The organizations expect to announce the successful proponent next spring.
Once completed, the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital will be a leading-edge health care facility designed to meet the current and future capacity needs of the local community. The project includes the construction of a new hospital with improved equipment and facilities including a 24-hour emergency department, helipad, surgical suite, dialysis unit and other specializations.
The facility design will also incorporate natural light in the atrium, energy-efficient windows throughout and sustainable materials wherever possible, and the new building will provide better access to other Quinte Health hospitals, including secondary care in Belleville and tertiary care in Kingston.
IO’s March 2023 P3 Market Update document estimates the project’s design and construction costs to be less than $200 million.
