Siltech to build new Fort Erie plant, with provincial assistance
A specialty silicone manufacturer has received $5 million from the provincial government to build a new factory in Fort Erie.
Siltech Corporation, which manufactures silicone products for use in the personal care, automotive, agriculture, pulp and paper, and oil and gas industries, will spend $100 million to build its new 210,000-square foot plant. The investment will create more than 50 jobs.
“As we continue to grow the manufacturing sector in our province, we’re thrilled to see Ontario companies like Siltech invest in their expansion,” said Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. “We’re creating the conditions for long-term economic growth that will create more good jobs and opportunities for workers and businesses across the province.”
The new plant will be the company’s third in the province. It will include state-of-the-art technology to increase production and help the company meet growing demand and expand to new markets around the world.
“Siltech is excited to be building in Fort Erie,” said Dag Enhorning, President of Siltech. “We are a proud Canadian company and look forward to many years of growth in this community.”
Government funding for the project is coming via the province’s Regional Development Program for Eastern and Southwestern Ontario. Launched in 2019, the program has contributed more than $95 million to support 88 projects. Those investments have helped to create close to 2,000 jobs.
