RFQ issued for new Peel Memorial Hospital Phase 2 Redevelopment project
Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and William Osler Health System have issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) for the new Peel Memorial Hospital Phase 2 Redevelopment project.
The project will be delivered through IO’s progressive design-build (target price) contract model.
William Osler Health System’s Peel Memorial Hospital Phase 2 Redevelopment project is located in Brampton and will be connected to the existing Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.
The new facility will increase health care capacity in the community and address the significant need for more specialized care for patients requiring longer hospital stays before they can safely return home or to additional care in the community.
Providing beds for longer term hospital stays at Peel Memorial will help create more space for very sick patients at Brampton Civic Hospital.
The project will encompass specialized care to patients, including older adults living with dementia through an innovative emotion-based model of care. It will also include 250 inpatient beds, new and enhanced mental health and addictions programs, an emergency care centre to serve the fast-growing community.
The building will also be designed to earn LEED Silver certification.
The RFQ is the first step in the process to select a team to help deliver the project. Submissions will be reviewed to shortlist teams with the required design and construction experience. Those teams will then be invited to respond to a request for proposals, which is expected to be released in fall 2024.
IO’s December 2023 Market Update document estimates the value of the project at between $500 million and $1 billion.
