Brampton announces the start of construction on all-electric fire station
The City of Brampton has announced the start of construction on a new, fully electric fire station.
Station 215 will be located in the city’s northeast end.
The 11,377 square-foot, two-bay station will be fully electric and equipped with electric fire trucks, a hose tower, a green roof and rooftop solar panels. It will also include energy-efficient HVAC equipment, building automation systems and all-electric infrastructure.
The facility is projected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by close to 15 tonnes annually, equivalent to removing more than four gas-powered vehicles from the road or planting 666 trees per year.
"As Brampton continues to grow, we are investing in infrastructure that keeps people safe and supports a greener future,” said Mayor Patrick Brown. “Station 215 is a critical addition to our emergency services network and a reflection of our commitment to both public safety and environmental leadership. By building a fully electric fire station equipped with solar panels, green infrastructure and electric fire trucks, we will be able to respond faster to emergencies and reduce emissions to build a more sustainable city for future generations.”
The city says the project reflects its broader commitment to strengthening emergency services, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and providing first responders with the tools and facilities they need to keep residents safe.
Station 215 is anticipated to be complete in the fall of 2026. Once operational, it will significantly improve emergency response times in the area, an essential factor in protecting lives and property during emergencies.
