Construction starts on long-term care home expansion in Sudbury
Construction is underway to add 32 modern long-term care beds at Hoivakoti Finlandia Nursing Home, a long-term care home in Sudbury.
The beds will complement the existing 112 beds currently at the home, and stem from an investment from the provincial’s Construction Funding Subsidy top-up.
"Today's groundbreaking marks an important step forward in expanding access to long-term care in our community,” said Finlandia Village CEO David J. Munch. “This 32-bed expansion reflects Finlandia Village's ongoing commitment to providing compassionate, dignified care for those who need it most."
The home is expected to welcome its additional residents in fall 2026.
The new section will feature 32 private rooms. Additionally, the expansion's lower level, covering approximately 3,000 square feet, will serve as an onsite training facility for staff and placement students from local colleges and universities. Other amenities at the home include a fitness centre, physiotherapy centre, and beauty salon.
This project is part of the Ontario government’s commitment to build 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care beds across the province.
