Four companies shortlisted for Quinte Detention Centre RFP
Infrastructure Ontario has invited four companies to respond to a request for proposals to deliver the Quinte Detention Centre Expansion Project.
EBC Inc., EllisDon Corporation, Ledcor Projects Eastern Limited, and Pomerleau Inc. were prequalified through a process that began in October 2024. Selection criteria included the required construction experience applicable to this project, as well as the financial capacity to deliver a project of this size and complexity.
The companies will now begin preparing proposals that detail how they will deliver the project.
Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of the Solicitor General expect to announce a proponent for the project next summer.
The scope of the project plans for the expansion of the detention centre in Greater Napanee by 91 beds. The expansion will bring the institution’s capacity to more than 300 beds.
The project will also include expansions to reception and visitation, executive administration, staff facilities, admitting and discharge, and the infirmary.
The work is part of the Ontario government’s commitment to increase capacity at several adult correctional facilities to ensure staff and inmate safety as well as sufficient capacity in both the short- and long-term.
