RFQ issued for Yonge North Subway Extension stations, rail and systems package
Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx have released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the stations, rail and systems package for the Yonge North Subway Extension.
The Yonge North Subway Extension will extend the TTC’s Line 1 subway service approximately eight kilometres from the existing terminus at Finch Station into the City of Richmond Hill. The project runs through the City of Toronto and York Region, including sections within the City of Vaughan, the City of Markham, and the City of Richmond Hill.
The project scope of work includes the design, construction, supply, integration, and commissioning of the following key elements:
- five new subway stations, and associated bus facilities,
- emergency exit buildings, traction power substations, and tunnel cross passages,
- all rail and signalling systems,
- a train storage facility to support Line 1 operations,
- connections at Finch Station, including modifications to the existing tail track,
- integration with existing TTC Line 1 infrastructure and work underway through the advance tunnelling contract work, and the Transit-Oriented Communities program.
The RFQ is the first step in the procurement process to select a team to deliver the project.
