Peel Region opens Mississauga Road overpass
Peel Region recently announced a key milestone in its upgrades to Mississauga Road.

A new bridge overpass that separates Mississauga Road from the CN Rail tracks now redirects traffic over the tracks, which improves safety and efficiency of both the roadway and rail transportation systems.
The project, which the region is developing in partnership with CN Rail, will help to enhance connectivity and enable growth in Brampton and Caledon, while supporting the future rail service expansion of Metrolinx’s Kitchener line.
“The new Mississauga Road overpass is more than an infrastructure upgrade - it’s a vital connection that improves safety, reduces delays, and supports the future growth of Brampton and Caledon,” said Peel Region’s Commissioner of Public Works, Kealy Dedman. “This milestone demonstrates Peel Region’s commitment to building a transportation network that keeps people and goods moving efficiently, while preparing for tomorrow’s needs.”
The widening and upgrades to Mississauga Road include:
- the expansion of Mississauga Road from two to six lanes between Bovaird Drive and Sandalwood Parkway and
- eidening from Sandalwood Parkway to Wanless Drive from two to four lanes
Additional features will include:
- A new multi-use pathway along the east side of Mississauga Road for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Upgraded street lighting, landscaping, and boulevard improvements.
- Enhanced intersections and traffic signals for improved safety and efficiency.
- The comprehensive project aims to improve traffic flow, safety, and accessibility for all road users.
Construction on Mississauga Road is projected to be completed this summer.
