IO, Runnymede Healthcare to issue RFQ for PTSI centre of excellence project
Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Runnymede Healthcare Centre have announced their will issue a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the Runnymede Healthcare Centre Post-Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI) Centre of Excellence for First Responders project.
The RFQ, which is scheduled to be released at the end of June, will invite interested teams to prequalify for the delivery of two purpose-built facilities: Station N◦. 3434 in Toronto and the Caledon Recovery Centre in the Region of Peel.
Together, the facilities will establish Canada’s first dedicated treatment centre for first responders (fire, police, EMS, and corrections) and frontline healthcare workers (nurses, and physicians) experiencing post-traumatic stress injury.
The Caledon Recovery Centre will be a purpose-built residential facility located in the Region of Peel, and designed to accommodate approximately 40 beds and provide intensive, recovery-focused programming integrating therapy, wellness, and outdoor activities.
Station N◦. 3434 will be a five-storey urban facility serving as the primary hub for clinical programs and services, including individual, group, and family therapy, concurrent mental health and addiction care, peer support, and virtual care.
Both facilities are being delivered using a design-bid-build model, with design work being advanced by Runnymede Healthcare Centre’s architect and engineering teams.
The RFQ will focus on prequalifying contractors to deliver the projects based on these completed designs.
Applicants will be able to express interest in one or both projects, with submissions evaluated based on construction experience and financial capacity appropriate to projects of this scale and complexity.
Shortlisted applicant teams will be invited to participate in subsequent procurement stages.
