Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. says the seasonally adjusted annual rate of housing starts rose 14.4 per cent to 246,033 in November, up from 215,134 in October. 

The 11 projects include retrofit work on municipal buildings, and construction of active transportation infrastructure and disaster mitigation infrastructure.

The combined project spend is nearly $50 million, and will see the construction and rehabilitation of the Greenway and Adelaide wastewater treatment plants.

Parliament’s budget watchdog is raising red flags over the lack of details in the Liberal government’s $100−billion stimulus plan, suggesting Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland’s phone is likely “ringing off the hook” from lobbyists wanting a piece of the action.

The drop of 0.4 percent is the second in a row. And while activity in the residential sector remains strong, investment in the non-residential has yet to climb back above pre-COVID levels.
