The engineering firm said its net income amounted to $44.7 million or $0.25 per diluted share for the quarter ended Sept. 30. The results compare with a net income of $18.6 million or 11 cents per diluted share in the third quarter of 2021. 

The union, which endorsed Premier Doug Ford’s spring re-election campaign, is criticizing the government for its heavy-handed approach to shutting down a potential strike by some of the province’s education workers.

The value of building permits dropped 17.5 percent for the month, as all five sub-components of the residential and non-residential sectors lost ground.

The $1.2-billion state-of-the-art facility is being constructed by EllisDon Infrastructure Justice under a design, build, finance and maintain arrangement. Completion is targeted for the fall of 2026.

The work sees Porter build two new hangars to accommodate its growing fleet, while the airport authority will build a new taxiway and related infrastructure to support the hangar development.
