A $1.4-million investment will help create jobs and capitalize on increased demand for Springer’s aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul services.

Woodbine confirmed Wednesday it will designate a portion of its land for construction of the venues with the goal of creating a national training centre for Canadian soccer.

The $5-million increase brings the province’s total annual commitment to pre-apprenticeship training to a record $28 million.

The latest report on job vacancies, issued by Statistics Canada for the fourth quarter of 2021, shows construction industry employers needing to fill 69,000 jobs – more than double the number they needed to fill at the end of 2019.

The battery facility will supply Stellantis plants in North America and will employ about 2,500 people. Construction is set to start this year, with a goal of being fully operational by 2025.
