Construction job vacancies reach record high
Vacancies in the industry rose by 19,900 (+46.7 percent) between the second quarters of 2019 and 2021 to reach 62,600. That figure is the highest on record since Statistics Canada began tracking sectoral data.
OPG subsidiary to handle EV infrastructure construction
Ontario Power Generation has launched a new subsidiary called PowerON Energy Solutions that will build and operate electrification and charging infrastructure for municipal transit agencies and other corporate electric vehicle fleets.

WSIB lowers ’22 premiums by 5%
Most construction groups will see their premiums decrease by more than the average figure of 5.1 percent. The province also says it intends to introduce legislation that will require the WSIB to pay back some of its reserves to safe employers.
