Each municipality will receive at least $100,000. Funding applications are due on December 21, and the province will submit projects for approval to the federal government by March.

The P3 team led by EllisDon and Coco Paving has been chosen to lead the project, which will see the 85-year old bridge in Mississauga preserved, and various improvements made to the QEW.

The latest report from the Canada Green Building Council suggests that a green-focused infrastructure plan could be a boon for the economy, and could cut greenhouse gas emissions significantly.

Chris Campbell, who has served with the union’s Toronto local since 2003, assumes the role.

The facility will be built to the LEED standard, and is backed by more than $46 million in funding from the federal government, the province and the Town of Milton.
