Cash is king, and nowhere more so in Canada than in the residential construction sector. The latest data from Statistics Canada reveals the home building and renovation sector accounted for 26 percent of the total underground economy in 2018.

The bill aims to reduce barriers in the planning, design and construction of major infrastructure projects like highway and public transit networks, and support the growth of transit-oriented communities.

The province announced funding of $6.5 million for the project on October 19. Construction is targeted for completion by spring 2022.
