The Government of Ontario is spending $16.5 million to lower the depth of the St. Lawrence River along the Wolfe Island ferry route in Kingston to improve service to the island.

The project will see two homes of 320 beds each built in Mississauga by the end of 2021—as opposed to within the usual 36-month timeframe.

A northern Ontario gold mine project is expected to create more than 1,000 construction jobs. Work on the site is expected to begin later this year, with the facility operational by 2023.

Eight Ontario municipalities will share in more than $360,000 in funding from the federal government to augment their infrastructure asset-management practices.

Construction work in Ontario, Quebec and Prince Edward Island resumed during the month. This fact helped put investment levels back on the path to near pre-pandemic levels.
