Another tunnel boring machine is at work under Toronto. This one is building a three-kilometre long, 4.5-diametre storm sewer.

A worker at the company’s plant in Chepstow, northwest of Kitchener, was found unconscious between two trolleys containing precast concrete slabs. The worker later died from the injuries.

The engineering firm says its profit attributable to shareholders totalled $28.4 million or 16 cents per diluted share for the quarter ended March 31.

The more than 3,500 workers that process claims at the board have been bargaining with their employers for more than three months. A May 8 strike vote received 97% approval.

The regional government’s plan include includes $1.7 billion for infrastructure to support growth and $1.4 billion to manage those assets to ensure their reliability.
