Police in Barrie, Ont., say Con-Drain Company Ltd. has been charged with six counts of criminal negligence causing death following a months-long investigation.

Funding of $1.5 million from the province will support the construction of a $15-million, state-of-the-art tortilla production line at Bimbo Canada’s Trillium bakery in Hamilton.

The Vancouver-based company said in a press release that the indefinite curtailment will affect around 126 employees.

The funding means that operator Genesee & Wyoming Canada will continue to provide commercial freight service along the Northern Ontario line.
