The developers behind a plan to transform a Mississauga brownfield site into a mixed-use waterfront community announced recently that the project will also feature Canada’s largest hub for technology, innovation and research.

Several of the recipients will use money from the Regional Development Program to support the costs of construction or renovations to their existing facilities.

The provincial Crown agency is looking for a company to handle the delivery of a host of services across its portfolio of 4,400 properties in 350 Ontario communities.

A new acute-care hospital in Windsor-Essex will add more hospital beds and expand services for the region. Funding for the build was originally announced in the province’s March budget.

The 83-acre site selected for development is located at the southwest corner of Yonge Street and Innisfil Beach Road.
