After finding the original contractor in default on renovation work to the city’s police headquarters, the city has appointed a new builder.

The United Steelworkers is the latest organization to support reforms to WSIB cancer-claims policies proposed by the Occupational Cancer Research Centre.

The province and the federal government have teamed up to provide $4 billion—including $2 billion for public transit—in funding supports for local governments.

With funding in place, York University is set to expand its facilities by building a $275-million facility in Markham. Construction starts this week.

The Elgin Park redevelopment project will host four two-storey buildings with a total of 40 units;  28 will be affordable, rent-geared-to-income housing.
